Ambiguities in English

I was stood outside the pub the other day, sharing some Thai grass with a friend, when he said something in conversation that got me thinking:

“I like annoying people.”

Did he mean that he enjoys getting people annoyed or he enjoys people who are annoying to others? Or did he mean both?

Is it a verb or an adjective? That’s the question. Of course, I had I not been stoned the answer would have been obvious: my friend enjoys annoying others.

What other examples are there of such ambiguities in meaning?
